About the Area > Seabrook Island
Seabrook Island enjoys a colorful and varied history. Originally inhabited by Native Americans, the island was first discovered by settlers in 1666 when Lieutenant Colonal Robert Sanford claimed the area for England 's King Charles.
Seabrook presents a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the sea islands. Three and a half miles of pristine beaches frame a landscape of scenic tidal marshes, meandering creeks, and wooded trails. The Club at Seabrook Island 's golf courses achieved the distinction of becoming South Carolina 's first fully certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
A vibrant community thrives here, built on the desires of a club membership where interests are diverse, yet one central priority stands above all others - to live within a private, natural environment where a relaxed smile and warm wave greet island residents and visitors alike.
